Arranging the export for the registered keeper? Bring a signed authorisation and a copy of the keeper’s ID. After completion you will not drive away on Dutch or export plates.

Frequently asked questions

What do I need to export a car?

It depends on the package. For Export Basis and Export Compleet you typically bring valid ID of the registered keeper, the registration card, the registration code and the Dutch number plates. Each package lists what to bring.

What is the difference between Export Basis and Export Compleet?

Export Basis is the administrative export: export document, RDW notification and cancellation of registration. Export Compleet adds temporary third-party export insurance and export plates so you can drive away.

Can I still drive the car after export?

With Export Basis you hand in the Dutch plates and do not drive away on Dutch or export plates. With Export Compleet or Export plates + insurance you drive away on temporary export plates while the matching insurance is valid.

How long are export plates and insurance valid?

The validity of the export insurance and plates is confirmed beforehand. After that you may not drive on them. An extension can be requested.

Can someone else export the vehicle on behalf of the registered keeper?

Yes. Bring a signed authorisation and a copy of the registered keeper’s ID, plus the other documents for the chosen package.

Can I come in the evening or as an urgent request?

Evening and urgent appointments are on request. Send us a WhatsApp. We will say whether it is possible and name any surcharge in advance.
